YachtsOfStuff Connects Boaters
YachtsOfStuff, YOS, connect boaters to a worldwide source of marine supplies. You can post boating items you need, "Needed", for free. To sell boating items, you must purchase a posting "For Sale" subscription. Posting subscription are available for single or multiple postings.
Postings are active for 90 days or until its transaction is completed.
YOS is not an auction. The price you set to sell an item is expected to be what the buyer pays. User's can Browse the parts lists to find "Needed" and "For Sales" boating items and then request a Part Match. Part Match Inquiries are handled through the YOS site.
Your registration helps ensure quality postings and matches. YachtsOfStuff.com requires detailed user information for registration, but generally limits user information publically accessible with postings and part matches. This helps deter fraud and scams.
Registering and Logging In Problems
Your browser must be set to accept "session cookies" to register and use YOS.
Most frequent problems with registering and logging on to YachtsOfStuff.com involve your browser's cookie settings. On MS Internet Explorer, select Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Advanced or Edit to change your Browser settings to accept "session cookies" when on YachtsOfStuff.com. Session cookies are destroyed when you shut your browser down. No residual information is stored with session cookies.
Setup and Register a New Account
Click on the New Visitor link and complete the account information. You can choose your User Name and Passwords. After registering, you can login into your account to retrieve part search inquiries and messages. Click here, New Visitor, to setup and register a new account.
Post 'Needed' boating items
All 'Needed' Postings are Free! Post "Needed" boating items by browsing the Part's list Category to the bottom level of the Category. Click the Post Needed link and complete the required information. You need a YOS account and must be logged in to post parts. Click here to Post "Needed" boating items.
How do I Price my Part.
Specify a price for the item you have or need. Specify the currency the price is set in, i.e. US Dollars, £, €. Include any pricing conditions you want such as "plus shipping", or "obo - or best offer". Include currency formating "$".
Request a 'For Sale' posting
Search or Browse parts to get a list of Available Parts. Click on the part you are interested in to view the posting details. Initiate an inquiry to the seller by clicking the Request Part button. The seller will be notified by email of your inquiry. From there you and the seller can dialogue to complete the transaction.
Parts can be shipped using a variety of services, US Post, UPS, FedEx. Larger items may need a freight carrier. Ensure that the item is packed securely. You can pack the item yourself or use a packing and shipping service i.e. Mailboxes etc. Please be aware some items, Flammable, toxic; are prohibited from most carriers.
You should insure valuable items and request receipt verification when appropiate.
In some case, you may choose to use an escrow service, PayPal or similar, to verify the items receipt before payment is released.
Post 'For Sale' boating items
'For Sale' Postings require purchasing a posting subscription. Postings can be purchased individually or packaged into a subscription of multiple postings. Review Posting and Subscription Rates and Purchase a posting subscription. Post "For Sale" boating items by browsing the Part's list Category to the bottom level of the Category. Click the Post For Sale link and complete the required information. You need a YOS account and must be logged-in to post parts.
Sell your boating item to a 'Needed' poster
Search or Browse parts to get a list of Needed Parts. A part match to a "Needed" item requires the seller to have an unused, "For Sale" posting available (purchased). Click on the part you are interested in to view the posting details. Initiate an inquiry to the buyer by clicking the Part-Match button. The Needed poster will be notified by email of your inquiry. From there you and the needed poster can dialogue to complete the transaction. If the part match is declined, the "For Sale" posting is posted for other users to view and purchase.
How does Part Matching work?
Part Matching maybe initiated by a YOS user that has located the posting by browsing or search the YOS site. A user can request notification of interest in the posting on the Part Detail page. YOS will send email to the poster to alert them of an interest in the posting. During the Part Matching, public access to the posting will be suspended. The posting's owner can reactivate the posting by rejecting the requester's offer. The posting's expiration date will not be effected by a request suspension. Completion of the posting transaction between the Requester and Poster terminates the posting. The Poster is responsible for maintaining the state(activate, suspended, or completed) of their postings.
Part Matching can be initiated by YOS. YOS runs Part Matching software and routines. YOS will send email to "For Sale" and "Needed" posters to alert them of a possible match in their postings. The posting's owner can reactivate the posting by rejecting match. The posting's expiration date will not be effected by a request suspension. Completion of the posting transaction between the "For Sale" and "Needed" posters terminates the posting. The Poster is responsible for maintaining the state, activate, suspended, completed of their postings.
Buy Posting Space
There are two types of YOS Postings, "For Sale"(Seller) and "Needed"(Buyer). All 'Needed' Postings are Free! 'For Sale' Postings require purchasing a posting subscription. Postings can be purchased individually or packaged into a subscription of multiple postings. Review Posting and Subscription Rates and Purchase a posting subscription. To buy a Posting Subscription, enter your credit card inforamtion where required or mail a check/moneyorder to YachtsOfStuff.
Post Feed Back
You can post feedback on any other user you have interacted with to buy or sell parts. After you have logged in, click on your Messages link. Click on the Feedback link for the message and enter your comments and rating of your experience with that user. Note: Abuse of the Feedback and rating system may result in suspension or termination of your account. See YOS User Agreement for more details.
Reactivated Posting after 24 hour Part-Match Hold.
To reactivate a posting,
3. Find the last message Sent.
4. Click the Message Subject to show the message detail.
5. The Message Detail will give options for 24 hour reactivation of your posting.
Attach Picture to my Posting
Your picture format should be:
1. In either .gif or .jpg file format.
2. Total picture(file) size should be less than 140,000K.
3. Height and width should not exceed 300 pixels.
You can attach pictures to your YachtsOfStuff.com posting in two ways.
1. Specify the picture location from your web folder. The picture will be loaded from this location when requested. File location will be in the form "http://www.mySite.com/myFolder/myPic.jpg".
2. YachtsOfStuff.com can host your picture. A posting will be deducted from your account for YOS Picture Hosting. Make sure you have a posting available before emailing your picture.
After posting your item on YachtsOfStuff.com, click on "Manage your part postings" in the "Your Account" box. Click the Part Posting to attach a picture. Select "YOSPictureHosting". A Email window will appear. Use your Email software to attach the picture to the email. Send email to YOSPicture@YachtsOfStuff.com. Do not change any of the prefilled information in the email. YOS will attach the picture to your posting within 36 hours.
Edit my account's information
You may change your account's information by logging on to YachtsOfStuff.com and clicking the link 'Edit my account's information.' in the 'My Account' (bottom left) box of your YOS home page. In your 'Account Information' and 'Boating Profile', click the 'Edit' link in the right corner to change your account or boating information. Make changes on the form and click the 'Submit' button. Usernames cannot be changed without YOS approval.
Problem with maintaining my logon.
If you are requested to logon each time you try to access part detail, account detail, or post parts, you may need to turn on your browsers "session cookies". YachtsOfStuff.com does not require perpetual cookies but does require your browser to accept bits of info, "session cookies", during your session to keep track of your status and choices. "Session cookies" are only stored on your computer while you are on YachtsOfStuff.com. Session cookies are destroyed when your YOS session is terminated.
